How to solve the "connection refused" SMTP error?

Hi,

I added a sending node(pmta) and tried sending a test mail but getting the following error.

Any idea how to solve this? BTW port25 is open since I have multiple pmta servers in mailwizz with this host without any issues.

Hi,

The error `connection refused` indicates that either your SMTP server is down or there is a firewall running on the SMTP server which is blocking the request from your Mumara server. If your firewall is blocking then you can whitelist your Mumara server IP on SMTP server.

I will suggest you can consult your server administrator for this issue.

Hi I found the issue.

The SMTP that I am trying to send from doesn't have port25 blocked and I've also added the ip to firewall but it still shows error.

It seems mumara is trying to send from the application ips instead of the SMTP VPS, and the host where mumara is hosted they have port25 blocked.
 
Mumara creates a packet of emails & hands it over to SMTP or MTA. So if port 25 is blocked on your Mumara server it didn't affect your sending.

You have the option to employ different SMTP services like Gmail or any other ESP. This grants you the ability to conduct a campaign from that particular sending node, thereby facilitating the verification of the sending IP directly from the email source.

But in that image u see the domain smtp.domain.com:25 that A record of mumara ip and its that ip that says connection refused due to port25 being blocked.

It appears that you've entered an invalid SMTP host. Please ensure that you have input the MTA IP as the SMTP host, and this should resolve the issue. Additionally, ensure that the encryption is set to None for proper functionality.

I see.

It seems I have added the masked mumara domain as smtp host, I'm unable to edit the config and change the host domain?
Should I delete that pmta node and start from scratch?
 
Of course when you add the PMTA then every sending node will be created with a separate IP. So either you can give the sending node IP in the host or the PMTA server IP in the host.

Moreover, I highly recommend considering hiring a Mumara expert who can help you with configuration.

Where can I find mumara expert? I think you are right, atleast I should learn basic technical stuff from him :)
