After update to 5.0.53, broadcasts not actually sending

Hi,

After updating successfully to v5.0.53, seems there's a problem with sending broadcasts... The process seems to complete as per the "View Scheduled" page, yet it shows 0 contacts and 0 progress--see screenshot below.

Hi Zack there must be your contacts status is not active or unsubscribed. You must try to add new contact in list and then try with that. We test it on many servers and it is working fine. Thanks
 
Hi Marfan -- thanks, you are correct! All contacts on the list were inactive due to a trigger I forgot I created.

However, I would expect some kind of feedback to the user, if he tries to schedule a campaign where ALL contacts of a list are inactive or unsubscribed (or bounced), because in that case then no emails could be sent... so why allow him to complete the campaign scheduling?

Perhaps you could add to future roadmap an improvement for this scenario? A few suggestions:

  • On the 1st tab of Scheduling a Campaign, have it do a check after selecting the list(s) and pressing "Continue", to make sure all lists selected have at least 1 active subscriber. If not, then pop-up a message alert to the user.
  • On the 1st tab of Scheduling a Campaign, next to the list name where you show the # of contacts, specify whether contacts are active/inactive; unsubscribed and bounced. I made a little mock up screenshot and attached here
  • On the last tab of Scheduling a Campaign, when the 'Submit' button is pressed, do a real-time check of the selected lists for the send, and alert a pop-up to the user if any of the lists have 0 active contacts (so the user he understands the 0 showing on the 'View Scheduled' page
  • On the 'View Scheduled" page, for any campaign that was not sent due to there being no active contacts, make it explicitly clear in the "Status" / "Contacts" / "Progress" column data cells. See attached image for mockup of this suggestion.
Just a few ideas to help improve the software which is amazing anyways!

One last other suggestion -- maybe add a "Summary page" that displays the campaign send details, before the user submits the campaign? So instead of tab 4 having 'Submit' button, it would have 'Continue' and would take user to summary page showing send details like campaign label, the lists it is being sent to and the # of active contacts in each list; when it is being sent (now or scheduled), etc., and then it gives the user a chance to review everything to make sure it's correct before they hit "Submit" to go and schedule the campaign.

Some other email marketing software I've used prior has this capability--adding a screenshot for reference of kind of thing I am suggesting.
