Forgot to exclude unsubscribed users what should I do now?

Hi everyone,
I accidentally sent a campaign from Mumara Campaigns without excluding unsubscribed contacts.
The campaign already went out before I noticed.

I’m worried about two things now:
  1. Compliance
  2. Sender reputation
What’s the correct way to handle this inside Mumara?

Don’t panic this is a common slip, especially when sending to a raw list or a newly imported one. However, if you are sending to an old list on which you have already scheduled some campaign Mumara will automatically exclude unsubscribed users.

Important thing first is If the campaign is still in “Sending” state, pause it immediately from the campaign actions menu.
If it’s already completed, you can’t undo it, but you can limit the impact.

The campaign is completed now.
I imported the list right before sending the campaign and directly selected it while scheduling the campaign. I think that’s where I missed the unsubscribe filter and have no idea about this that sending to an old list and Mumara will automatically exclude the bad things.

Yes, that explains it.
In Mumara, new lists don’t automatically exclude unsubscribed users unless you schedule your campaign to an old list on which you have already sent a campaign.

Here’s what you should do next (step-by-step):

Review campaign stats
Go to Statistics → Broadcast Stats and check:
  • Unsubscribe count
  • Spam complaint count
If complaints are low, your reputation is safe.

Make sure global suppression is updated
Go to Contacts → View Contacts and confirm those contacts are properly marked as Unsubscribed by applying the view filter.
Mumara will prevent future sends to them once they’re correctly suppressed or unsubscribed.

Ofcourse not, don’t send anything else to them.
Once someone is unsubscribed, any follow-up email (even an apology) is considered a violation.

Best practice in Mumara is:
  • Leave it as a one-time mistake
  • Fix your targeting rules
  • Monitor complaint rate for the next 24–48 hours

What’s the safest way to make sure this never happens again?
I run multiple campaigns daily, so I can’t afford this mistake again.

This is how most long-term Mumara users lock it down:

Create a master “Send-Ready” segment
Example conditions:
  • Subscription status = Subscribed
  • Not in suppression list
  • Email status = Active
Use only this segment for campaigns never raw lists.

Avoid selecting lists directly in campaigns
Always send via segments. Segments enforce logic; lists don’t.

Double-check recipient count before hitting Send
If the number looks unusually high, that’s your red flag

Makes sense now.
I relied too much on the list instead of segments. I would appreciate if I can get some exclusive guide on segmentation.

Exactly. Mumara gives you all the controls the key is using segments as guardrails.

One missed exclusion won’t break your reputation, but repeating it will. Fix the workflow once, and you’re safe going forward.
However, the best guide is to go through the documentation. Here is the link for it just have a look on it and you will get a better understanding of segmentation.
