How Many IPs Should I Use for 100k Emails per Day?

Hi community,
I’m planning to send around 100,000 emails per day using Mumara and wanted expert opinions.

How many IPs would you recommend for this volume, assuming Major ISPs are the primary audience?

This is a very smart question to ask before scaling. A lot of people couldnt handle the reputation by underestimating IP planning.

Before answering, a few quick questions:
  1. Are the IPs new or already warmed?
  2. Is this a daily consistent volume or occasional?
  3. Are you sending one campaign or multiple segments?

Here are my answers:

1- IPs are warmed but recently
2- Volume will be consistent daily
3- Mostly one main campaign with segments

Perfect. Based on that setup, here’s a safe and scalable approach.

Recommended IP Count for 100k/day
Ideal Range:
  • 100k ÷ 5 IPs = ~20k per IP/day
  • Major ISPs handle this volume comfortably
  • Throttling risk stays low
  • Each IP maintains a clean reputation
Common Mistake: Using Too Few IPs

Using 1–2 IPs for 100k/day often causes:
  • Major ISPs rate limiting
  • Temporary blocks
  • Spam placement
  • Unstable open rates
Another Mistake: Too Many IPs

Using 10+ IPs for 100k/day:
  • Slows down reputation building
  • Dilutes engagement signals
  • Makes monitoring harder
Above are some major recommendations for you to handle the said sending volume.

It’s a common assumption, but balance is the key.

Rule of Thumb: Enough IPs to distribute load, but not so many that reputation can’t be built.

Once your opens and inboxing stabilize, you can:
  • Increase volume
  • Add IPs gradually
  • Create separate IP pools per campaign type
