Scaling Mumara to 2 million emails/hour

Hi Everyone,

We're currently running Campaigns+ to PowerMTA (PMTA) and are looking to achieve 1.5-2 million emails/hour.
We're currently hitting a wall at 800k/hour. PMTA is hitting ~50% and can be scaled up.

Our on-prem Campaigns+ server is running:
- 30 cpus of Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2680 v2 @ 2.80GHz.
- 24GB ram
- 30 sending threads, 60 gives us slightly better performance even though we don't have the CPU threads.
- 500 email chunks
- PHP 7.4
- memory_limit=256M
- OP Cache
- MySQL 8
- innodb_buffer_pool_size=12G

It looks like our CPU is only hitting ~55%, and we're only using 10GB of RAM (no swap).

What can we do to increase our sending speed?

We have a devops professional who is well versed in SQL Server. Does Mumara Campaigns+ support it?
Can we horizontally scale Mumara Campaigns on multiple servers? Will this cause cron jobs to be duplicated across servers?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi Chris, I would suggest you increase the PHP memory_limit to 4G so at least PHP gets some fresh air. And also keep in mind, that increasing threads beyond the server resources will make it take a bite more than it can chew, so it's not a better approach as it may make things slower instead of making them fast. So here, increasing PHP memory_limit should do a better job. The number of CPUs is the key factor for maximum sending per hour, so if you are on a cloud I would suggest you increase the CPUs to do a split test of 30 CPUs vs 40 CPUs or so. And if these are vCPUs, the speed would be compromised as companies have a limit on the maximum usability.
