Should I use Evergreen or Scheduled campaigns what's the best pick?

Hi everyone,
I’m setting up campaigns in Mumara and I’m stuck on one decision.

Mumara gives two options:
  • Scheduled Campaign
  • Evergreen Campaign
Both sound useful, but I don’t clearly understand:
  • What’s the real difference?
  • When should I use Evergreen vs Scheduled?
  • Can using the wrong one hurt results?
I want to pick the right approach instead of guessing. Any real guidance would help.

Good question this is something a lot of people get wrong at first.

The easiest way to think about it is:
  • Scheduled campaigns → send once at a specific time
  • Evergreen campaigns → send automatically based on rules
They’re built for very different goals, even though the emails may look similar according to your requirements.

Sure, here’s how it works in real usage. Scheduled Campaigns are best for:
  • Weekly newsletters
  • Product launches
  • Flash sales
  • Announcements with a deadline
You pick the audience, the exact date & time. And the campaign sends once.

Evergreen campaigns are for ongoing, automated sending.
Typical Evergreen use cases are:
  • Welcome emails for new subscribers
  • Drip content that sends after signup
  • Re-engagement emails
  • “Send this email when someone enters a segment”
Instead of choosing a date, you choose a condition.
Example:
“Send this email to anyone who joins List A”
That’s why it’s called Evergreen as it keeps running.

That’s a very common mistake. If you use Evergreen incorrectly:
  • Old subscribers may get the email late
  • New subscribers may get an outdated promo
  • Campaign keeps firing when you didn’t expect it
I’ve seen people send a Black Friday email in January because of this. So Evergreen needs clear rules and monitoring.

For beginners If you’re unsure:
  • Start with Scheduled campaigns
  • They’re predictable and easy to control
Once you understand:
  • Segments
  • Triggers
  • Entry/exit rules
Then Evergreen becomes very powerful.

Think of it like this:
Scheduled = manual sending
Evergreen = automation engine

Here’s a simple rule you can remember:
  • If the email has a date or deadline → Scheduled
  • If the email depends on user behavior or timing → Evergreen
Most mature setups use both, but for different jobs.
